Ahmed Attaf Receives His Portuguese Counterpart to Strengthen Bilateral Relations

The Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, the National Community Abroad and African Affairs, Mr. Ahmed Attaf, received this morning at the headquarters of the Ministry the Minister of State and Foreign Affairs of the Portuguese Republic, Mr. Paulo Rangel.

On this occasion, the two ministers held a one-on-one meeting, followed by expanded talks involving members of the delegations of both countries.

These discussions provided an opportunity to review the various aspects of cooperation between Algeria and Portugal, in the context of the commemoration last year of the fiftieth anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and the twentieth anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Friendship, Good Neighbourliness and Cooperation. The two sides also discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations in all their dimensions and areas, in preparation for the holding of the sixth Algerian-Portuguese High-Level Meeting.

Furthermore, the meeting served as a renewed opportunity to exchange views and analyses on international and regional issues of common interest, particularly the latest developments in the Palestinian issue, the situation in the Sahel-Saharan region, the question of Western Sahara, as well as the prospects for the Euro-Mediterranean partnership.
