Algeria–Zimbabwe: Strengthening Bilateral Cooperation and Enhancing African Coordination

On the sidelines of his participation in the meetings of the Executive Council of the African Union, held in Addis Ababa, the Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs, Mr. Ahmed Attaf, held bilateral talks with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade of the sister Republic of Zimbabwe, Mr. Amon Murwira, within the framework of ongoing consultation and coordination between the two countries at both the bilateral and African levels.
The meeting provided an opportunity for a comprehensive review of the historical bonds of friendship and solidarity between Algeria and Zimbabwe, and for reaffirming their shared commitment to strengthening and elevating these relations to broader horizons, particularly in the economic, trade and investment fields. Both sides highlighted the positive momentum characterizing bilateral relations in light of the important decisions taken by the Presidents of the two countries during their talks in Algiers last July.
The two Ministers also exchanged views on a number of regional and international issues of common interest, stressing the importance of continued coordination and consultation within the organs and institutions of the African Union. This approach aims to support the continent’s efforts to enhance peace and security, promote sustainable development, and advance African economic integration. In this regard, both parties reaffirmed their commitment to unified African positions and to defending the continent’s priorities in various international fora.
