Bilateral meeting between the Algerian and Spanish Foreign Ministers in Madrid

Mr. Ahmed Attaf, Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad, and African Affairs, held on 7 febrary 2026 in Madrid, capital of the Kingdom of Spain, a working session with his Spanish counterpart, Mr. José Manuel Albares Bueno.

This bilateral meeting takes place within the framework of the working visit currently undertaken by the Algerian Minister of State to Spain. During the session, both sides reviewed the current state of cooperation and partnership between Algeria and Spain and explored ways to further enhance these relations, particularly in the fields of energy, trade, investment, and transport, as well as judicial and consular cooperation.

The ministers emphasized the importance of making full use of the upcoming visit of the Spanish Minister to Algeria to optimally prepare the 8th session of the Algerian-Spanish High-Level Meeting.

Furthermore, the two ministers exchanged views on a range of international and regional issues of common interest, notably the developments in the Sahel-Saharan region and the shared challenges in the Euro-Mediterranean space.
