Message from the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, on the occasion of National Martyrs’ Day – February 18

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful,
Peace and blessings be upon the noblest of Messengers.

Fellow citizens,

In honor of our righteous martyrs and in reverence for their sacrifices, we commemorate, on National Martyrs’ Day, the memory of women and men who honored Algeria with the faith and courage with which God endowed them to defeat colonialism, driven by their attachment to honor and freedom. They entrusted the Algerian people with the values of the blessed Liberation Revolution and the nobility of its objectives.

On this occasion, we stand with gratitude and pride to reaffirm our duty of loyalty and steadfastness on this path, as we continue, at this stage, to confront challenges in order to complete the course we embarked upon together at the beginning of the decade. We take great pride in the fact that its foundation has been loyalty to the martyrs, its driving force a sincere national spirit, and its goal the elevation of Algeria. A journey that has moved the country from a time when it stood on the brink of danger to a climate of confidence and hope in a New Algeria, embraced by a people engaged in a dynamic of sustainable development whose manifestations extend across the vast regions of the nation.

Praise be to God, and despite the challenges of the journey, we have achieved significant milestones that have transformed our beloved country into a vast workshop bustling with projects of work, construction, and development in all provinces. Algeria has become a pole of stability attractive to both domestic and foreign investment, as confirmed by the most credible figures and acknowledged by concerned institutions.

We are convinced that what has been achieved is but a token of loyalty to the martyrs, whose memory we honor today, and a constant reminder of the trust of the people, whose hopes and aspirations continue to guide our march toward the promise of an emerging State.

As we commemorate National Martyrs’ Day on February 18, we recall the glory of the martyrs whose pure souls forever hover over Algeria, guiding our steps forward and inspiring us all with dignity and pride. As I join you in praying for all the honorable, free men and women who resisted across the decades, and for the heroic martyrs of the Liberation Revolution, I pay tribute to the moudjahidate and moudjahidine — may God grant them long life — who continue to sow on this blessed land the seeds of loyalty and blessing, while raising prayers for the protection of Algeria and its people.

Long live Algeria.

Glory and eternity to our righteous martyrs.

Peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon you.
