The Address by the Prime Minister Reaffirms the Commitment of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, and the Algerian State to the Care of the National Community Abroad

The Prime Minister, Mr. Saïfi Grib, emphasized, during his opening remarks at the Conference of Heads of Consular Centers at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, under the delegation of the President of the Republic, that Algeria places special attention on its citizens residing abroad. He noted that the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, considers this community a priority, recalling in particular the recent appeal addressed by the President to young Algerians living abroad in precarious or irregular situations, reflecting the authorities’ constant concern for their protection wherever they may be.

The Prime Minister added that holding this conference, more than twenty years after its first edition, is necessary to review the achievements in favor of the national community and to adapt the measures and plans dedicated to them.

Mr. Grib pointed out that the Constitution explicitly guarantees the State’s role in protecting citizens abroad, safeguarding their rights and dignity, strengthening their ties with the homeland, and encouraging their contribution to national development.

He highlighted the strategic importance of the tasks carried out by consulates and their heads, which enable them to implement policies aimed at protecting citizens and supporting their active participation in the national development process.

The Prime Minister also noted that the President’s commitment to protecting the community is reflected in explicitly including the “National Community Abroad” dimension in the title of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and appointing a Secretary of State dedicated to the community abroad, demonstrating the allocation of part of the government’s activities to serve citizens living outside the country.

Mr. Grib stressed the importance of following up on the recent presidential appeal concerning young Algerians in irregular situations to ensure the protection of all citizens wherever they are.

Finally, the Prime Minister concluded by reaffirming the State’s commitment to providing the best possible support to the national community abroad, listening to their concerns, and strengthening the role of the diplomatic and consular network to effectively carry out its duties toward this important segment of Algerian society.
