The President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, received the letters of credence of the Ambassador of the Republic of Namibia accredited to the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria.

Diplomatic relations between the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria and the Republic of Namibia are based on strong historical ties, rooted in African solidarity, Pan-Africanism, and mutual support in the struggles of African peoples for independence and liberation.

Algeria supported Namibia’s liberation movement against apartheid and South African occupation prior to the country’s independence in 1990. Shortly thereafter, the two states established official diplomatic relations, marking the beginning of a bilateral partnership founded on mutual respect and cooperation in political, economic, and cultural fields.

Since then, bilateral relations have been strengthened through regular political consultations, economic and trade cooperation, training and capacity-building, cultural exchanges, and coordination within regional and international organizations, notably the African Union and the United Nations.

Today, Algeria and Namibia continue their collaboration within the framework of African solidarity, promoting peace, stability, and sustainable development across the continent.
